The Brooklyn Independent Cinema Series is a monthly screening series dedicated to the art of independent filmmaking and the exhibition of contemporary independent films.

From 2005 to 2010, Brooklyn Independent presented its programs at Barbes in Park Slope, turning Barbès' backroom into a makeshift neighborhood cinema reminiscent in spirit - and resources - of the itinerant cinemas still found in some parts of the world.

Beginning in 2011, the Brookyn Independent Cinema Series will continue its programming at a new venue, UnionDocs, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
