ABOUT
THE FILMMAKER
Joe Pacheco is
an award-winning filmmaker and photographer based in Brooklyn,
NY.
His first feature
documentary, AS
SMART AS THEY ARE: THE AUTHOR PROJECT
focused on the
band One Ring Zero and their collaboration with McSweeney's
Publishing
and several noted authors including
Paul Auster, Dave Eggers, Rick Moody and Jonathan Lethem.
The film screened at over thirty film festivals worldwide,
winning "Best Feature Documentary",
"Best Music Documentary", "Best
of Fest" and "Audience Award".
His photographs
have been shown in numerous exhibitions including the
“Life of the City” exhibit at the
Museum
of Modern Art
in New York City, and featured in
various publications including X-Ray
Magazine,
Poets
& Writers,
The
Virginia Quarterly Review
and
The
Gurdian
(UK).
He is also the founder
and curator of the Brooklyn
Independent Cinema Series
and has served as juror, programmer
and panelist for many film festivals and institutions.
His second feature
documentary, AFTER
THE FALL,
follows two American journalists to Vietnam for the 30th
anniversary of the fall of Saigon, and explores the cultural,
political and personal implications of the war and its
profound impact on their fathers.
